Now in its fifth year, Pedal Norfolk aims to be bigger and better than ever in 2017 with the new dates allowing guests to enjoy a fun filled weekend with their family over May half term and a rare opportunity to camp within the stunning grounds of Holkham Hall. With over 2,500 cyclists and more than 8,500 visitors expected, there will be a number of individual cycling events and activities on offer aimed at all ages and levels of ability – from first timers to more experienced cyclists as well as plenty to entertain spectators of the sport. Festival goers will have the opportunity to partake in 20, 50 or 100 mile signposted safe and supported routes along north Norfolk’s scenic country and coastal roads with plenty of feed stations along the way allowing cyclists to ride up to 250 miles of guided routes if they feel up to the challenge! From the gentle and easy going flat routes to the more gruelling up hills, the smooth tarmac roads are virtually car-free, allowing participants enjoyable and safe riding conditions. For the ultimate challenge, in the Blue Ribbon Event, experienced riders will have the opportunity to conquer the full 250 miles of varied sportives over three days. For the first time next year, a closed-road race will take place starting in front of Holkham Hall and will take serious competitors on a route through some of the park’s key landmarks at speed. Once out of the saddle, avid and amateur cyclists alike will also be able to test out the latest techy cycling products and meet and chat with professionals showcasing the very latest kit and gadgets. For children, within the grounds of Holkham there will be an ultra-safe 7-mile car-free bicycle route, a Cycle Academy for four – 12 years old, balance bike training for children aged one year and up, grass track training, Isla Bike arena and a half-mile mountain biking course through the woods, as well as bike hire for all. Pedal Norfolk will be a glorious weekend for those not cycling with plenty of activities on offer including a fun fair for younger visitors with trampolines, a climbing wall, a tunnel adventure course and inflatables to enjoy as well as Holkham’s adventure playground and nearby award-winning Holkham Beach. Evenings will be packed full of additional entertainment with competitions, prize-giving, films, live music and alongside the Adnams beer tent there will be a number of food outlets focusing on locally sourced fare. At the end of the day, visitors will be able to camp out in the grounds of Holkham Hall, a rare occasion and an exciting experience for little ones. Camping by the stunning lake, the campsite is safe and secure with excellent facilities and showers for guests to feel right at home.
