Cycle Steps
Departing from Throckley travel west towards Newburn. Continue on this route onto the Scotswood road and go the whole way along to Newcastle City Centre. Turn left onto St James Boulevard and head towards St James' Park (sorry the Sports Direct Arena) and turn right on to Gallowgate. At the junction turn left onto Percy Street and head towards newcastle University. At the Haymarket junction turn right onto St Mary's Place. Follow the road past Jesmond and through Sandyford, it will bring you to the junction with the Coast Road. Turn right and continue either through Jesmond dene, across the Armstrong Bridge or stay on the Coast Road. Turn left onto Newton Road and into High Heaton. At the roundabout turn left and head towards Freeman Park. On this road is Dene and Daniella's coffee shop, a very good rest stop. Continuing on past the front of the freeman hospital turn left towards Matthew Bank, down the dip and up the other side, at the top tuen left and continue on to the Blue HOuse Roundabout. Straight across onto Grandstand Road. At the lights turn right onto Kenton Road and follow straight on at the next roundabout and continue through Coxlodge, this will eventually bring you to a junction with Broadway West, at this point turn left and pass Fawdon, over the A1 and into Kingston Park. Continue straight and then go via the Falcons Rugby Club and towards Woolsington. From woolsington continue straight past the Airport and into Ponteland. Once in Ponteland there are loads of different roads that lead up towards the Stamfordham Road, so you can use any of them. I opted for one via my parents house so i can drop in for a coffee :) Once at the Stamfordham road turn left and head east. Turn right onto the THrockley Road, be careful its at the bottom of the hill and easy to overshoot if you're really going for it. Your Home!
