| It is more or less impossible to get lost on this route. There's only really one road on Barra, and it's a big circle. We hired bikes from a cycle hire shop in Castle Bay. We then cycled leisurely round the island, taking in a look at the beach runway at the airport. | |

| This is a really nice route round a lovely island. I would recommend heading out of Castlebay anti-clockwise, this means you get the main hill out of the way straight away. It is a good slug up the hill but once you reach the top there are no more real big climbs. Heading up the north spur is good as you get to see the airport with the beach runway. If I had to make a change to this route I would include a trip out to Vatersay, take the right turn off the main loop road just before you return into Castlebay, there is another hill climb here but it is short and gives you a great view from the top. Follow the road over the causeway and round to the best beach on the island. Then double back to Castlebay again. | ||
