| Easy short circular ride along forest trails and country lanes - ford on route with optional footpath, kissing gates and footbridge with knee height bar requiring bike to be lifted. Not easy for tandems, trailers, trailer bikes, or heavy panniers. Start - Small car park off Bramshill Road. Follow forest trail parallel to Bramshill Road West. Turn right onto concrete track. Take forest track first right NNE. At cross tracks near north edge of plantation turn left. Follow track to gate onto Well House Lane. Turn left and follow Well House Lane to Ford Lane. Turn right follow Ford Lane to Ford. If brave - try the ford - note the depth markings before crossing. Fancy a short walk?- take bike through wide kissing gate by ford into field. Follow footpath a short way to footbridge. Lift bike over knee height bar on each side of footbridge. Turn right-follow path back to wide kissing gate and Ford lLane. Follow Ford Lane up hill to T junction- Turn right onto Sandpit Lane follow up and down two hills to T junction Bunglers Hill. Turn right and follow Church Road through village to left turn Church Lane. Follow Church Lane to T Junction Castle Road. Turn Right and follow Castle Road to Cross Roads - Turn left into Priest Hill. Follow Priest Hill down to (CARE!) junction with Bunglers Hill. Turn right - follow Church Road past George and Dragon pub and sharp left turn over Blackwater River hump bridge. At mini roundabout in Swallowfield turn left onto The Street. Pass The Crown pub, take left turn onto Trowe's Lane. Follow Trowe's Lane to end at T junction with Part Lane. Turn Left for short distance then right onto School Road. Follow School Road back to Ford and Ford Lane. Follow Ford Lane up almost to Bramshill Road. Turn left into plantation and follow forest trail parallel to Bramshill Road back to car park. |
