This is quite a hilly route with very few extended flats. I do this route in about 1h40 mins but if your out to enjoy the seaside and country scenery then anything up to 2 hours+.
It's a bit of a slog getting up the last hills, however Bear Road is a steep decent and is definitely worth getting to the top of the hills for this alone.

Beautiful connection between Newhaven and Lewes. I would recommend reversing the route as prevailing wind is against you all the time and not enjoyable going against traffic on the A27.

Beautiful scenery, but be warned very heavy traffic between Newhaven and Lewes.

The final climb to Woodingdean is very tough, and again on a very busy main road. The decent into Brighton is lovely after a difficult ride.

Quite a poor route. Many potholes, big roads and poorly maintained tarmac.
Nice scenery but difficult to enjoy
