Cycle Steps
This is a road route, ona mix of A, B and country roads, that has a mixed terrain with some good hills.
Starting on Crosmere Road, Cockshutt, follow the road away from the A528, as it swings right out of Cockshutt, heading towards English Frankton. Follow the road through EnglishFrankton and Brown Heath to the T junction in Loppington.
At the junction, turn left onto the B4397, heading towards Wem. Follow the road to the B5063 T junction. At the junction turn right onto the B5063 and follow the road through Hotton and into Wem.
In Wem, follow the B5063 into the High Street, and as you pass the St Peter and St Paul Parish Church, on your right, the road becomes the B5476. Continue straight on past the Town Hall into Aston Street, then turn left onto New Street, still B5476, heading towards Whitchurch.
Follow the B5476 through Edstaston, Quina Brook, Coton, Steel Heath and Tilstock, ond on till the A41 roundabout.
At the roundabout, turn left onto the A41, skirting around Whitchurch, and follow the A41 to the A525 roundabout.
At the roundabout, turn left, off the A41 and onto Wrexham Road, A525, and follow this across the border into Wales, through Redbrook Maelor, Painters Green and Eglwys Cross, and on till the first turn off to the left.
At the turn off, turn left, off the A525 and onto the A539, and follow this past Hanmer and Cumbers, through Penley, Maelor South and Lightwood Green, and on till the crossroads in Overton.
At the crossroads, turn left onto Salop Road, A528, and follow this through Knolton, back across the border into England, through Caegoody Lane, The Cross, and on till the A495 roundabout in Sparbridge.
At the roundabout, turn right onto Willow Street, A495, and follow this through Newnes, The Brow, Welsh Frankton, New Marton and on till the T junction in Whittington.
At the junction, turn left into Castle Street, still A495, and follow this road straight onto the B5009, as the A495 turns off right. Follow the B5009 through Babbinswood and into Queens Head.
In Queens Head, go over the canal and take the first left turn, off the B5009. Follow the road alongside the canal and under the railway bridge, take the left turn off after the left hand turn off for Rednal. Follow this road as it swings right underneath Hordley and heads towards Lower Hordley.
After the first row of houses on your left, take the left hand turn off. After about 400m, take the first turn off on the right, follow this road to the T junction. At the junction turn right and follow this road back to the A528 T junction in Cockshutt.
At the junction turn left onto Shrewsbury Road, A528, then take the first turn off on the right onto Crosmere Road and follow this back to the start point.
