| This is a nice route on quiet roads, to and from the visitor centre at Carsington Water. It is not long but has some steep hills. I've only done it on a Sunday and have been able to park in Duffield library car park to unload the bikes. Also, there is an incongruously located aggregate works just before Hulland, which is closed on a Sunday, but where you may encounter lorries on a working day. The climb up to Shottle is a killer (you can prolong the agony by detouring up to the aerials at Alport Heights), but thereafter, the downhill run into Duffield goes on forever and is sheer joy!! |
