|The most difficult parts are finding the Northbrook street exit from the canals which has a 12' high and 12' long brick wall in the center of the canal marking the spot. leave the canal and cycle away from it (perpendicular) and you will find the sailing club on the other side of the main road. this is the entrance to the reservoir. Travel to the right and behind the sailing club.
There are signs off Rotten park road and Portland road onto the old railway path called "Harborne Walkway" (cyclists welcome) there is also an entrance via the park. It is difficult to find, runs parallel to Gillot road but well worth the effort. Hardly used and full of wild flowers. The first time I did this I took a small map of the roads around the reservoir. It has tunnels under all the main roads so is a very quick route back to Harborne.
Once you have found the path Follow the sign to Hagley road and it will point you in the right direction to get back to the start.
About 2 miles of roads the rest on good cycle paths on canals and the old railway from Harborne to Edgbaston Reservoir. mostly flat you pass no locks! You may hit pedestrian traffic at gas street basin but a great place to take a coffee and watch the world.
|Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?|
|Bike shop at corner of Ravenhurst road in Harborne.
Loads of cafes/ pubs at gas street basin. Petrol station by the Sailing club.
