Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
Manningtree is a small market town well worth looking round; Mistley Walls and the remains of the village's Adams church are picturesque (good food in both communities). Bradfield has camping at the Strangers' Home pub, and its church graveyard boast Edwin Dunning, first man to land a plane on a ship at sea (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squadron_Commander_E.H._Dunning). Wrabness Woods are pretty, as is the village's tucked-away beach, slightly off the route. At Dovercourt, the Puritans from Dedham swept in and stripped out and burned the church roodscreen, which local people said had been talking to them, hence a Dovercourt Woman is a woman who likes gossip (there is also the nearby road, Holyrood, where the deed is said to have taken place); Harwich is marvellous, specially on one of the Sats and Suns when the Harwich Society hold guided tours www.harwich-society.co.uk. On the return journey, note the mast at Great Bromley, the last of four wartime radar aerials.
