Cycle Steps
This is a nice varied route starting in Houghton and working into Durham via Easington Lane and Sherburn Village. Climb up out of Durham and then a great drop back down. Pass the University sports on the A177. Then some nice B roads heading back to Sherburn and a stiff climb up Sherburn Hill. More B roads as you head out to Easington and then up to Seaham. There is a slpit point at the cross roads at Lord Byrons Walk. Turn left for an easier ride back to Houghton (aprox 34 miles total) or follow the route towards Sunderand. Fly along some lovely new roads from Ryhope to Grangetown then a long low climb back up to the A690. Follow the A690 and turn left at A19 roundabout to Doxford pass Morrisons and turn right up Burdon Lane. Pass the cart racing track and turn right to go down the bank past the Golf course and back into Houghton to finish.
