This riute takes in the major climbs of The Bowland Forestnow mainly in the County of Lancashire. Prior to the local government reorganisation of the 1970s a large part was in Yorkshire. In deed in the Norman Doomsday Book the whole area was recorded in the section recorded as Yorkshire. In our route we stray into modern Yorkshire to include the area of the Dales 3 peaks turning at the famed Ribble Head. The final section climbs the well known Trough of Bowland where the 2 pre 1970s two counties met.
