|Beautiful scenic views of Woodhead Valley as you make your way up the old disused railway line.
The Railway line has been pulled up and a hard pack gravel surface laid. it is a very gradual climb up through the valley (hardly recognisable till you are comig back down!!).
You can ride 7 miles to the Woodhead Tunnel (which is now blocked off) and then you turn round and come back. stunning views and countryside... NOT TO BE MISSED
|Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?|
|The trail has markers that point out different points of interest on the way. some of these alone are fascinating

|Lovely ride today (31/7) up the valley and back with ballast in tow (aged 2 and 4 in kids trailer) and wife for company :)|
However, I'm beginning to think that 13 miles was a little ambitious to break me/us back in after many years' break! If anyone uses this route and finds the remnants of my arse, please could they return it!

|Immense advantage that the start of the route is only a couple of hundred yards from Hadfield Station and you have to pass a Public Toilet on the way to the trail. Level all the way and doesn't seem to get overcrowded, yes, you can hear the eerie silence and it's an experience that you will retain forever. An early start is an advantage if you plan to stop for 'butties' and a drink and plan to come back to Hadfield. I've found some s/c accn in Hadfield and I would like to spend a week here in the Summer (take your camera) and be sure to touch the Woodhead Tunnel entrance barrier as proof you've been there.|
