Cycle Steps
This route takes you up a few hills from Woodhouse to Markfield. Thornton is a nice stop before heading to Ashby through very quiet lanes with beautiful countryside. Short steep hill near Calke then pretty chill ride from Melbourne back to Loughborough.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
Thornton reservoir, Staunton Harold reservoir, LBS in Ashby.

Did this other way round starting from Thornton. Missed out a bit of centre of Loughborough by going down Nanpantan Road. Also discovered the cycle track from Tonge to Melbourne (NCR 6) which was pleasant for 2-3 miles.

The hill after Calke is even steeper this way round I think. A broken gear cable 4 miles before Thornton added extra interest - 8th gear not best one for going uphill! Will do this again when better weather, today was grey and misty, but the scenery around Woodhouse and Calke is worth seeing again in the sun. By the way Stainton Harold Ferrer Centre has a good cafe
