Varied route passing through a number of towns as well as high downland with great views. A long day one-way, or for a shorter trip the Wantage-Devizes section is particularly good.
Some big roads especially between Devizes and Melksham but in the main quiet stuff. Big hill just outside Wantage and another out of Bradford-on Avon. You may want to pick up the canal path for the last stretch into Bath - very pretty and not too bumpy.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
Abingdon, Wantage, Lambourn, Marlborough, Devizes, Bradford-on-Avon all have their charms and various shops/pubs/eateries etc.
Look out for the White Horse on the hill above Alton Priors.
Passes near the Ridgeway path and various canals.

Great route, thanks. However, it's 80 miles not 70 if you follow the roads exactly - this one is mapped pretty roughly on here. Be wary if cycling east to west, you're likely to be against the wind, doh! And it ends with a very stiff climb into Bath to polish you off.
