Cycle Steps
1. Leaving Inverness, head on minor roads to Fort Augustus. This is the most challenging section of the route, just because of the hills, but it's worth it for the final descent into Fort Augustus. From Fort Augustus, pick up canal paths to Loch Oich. At Loch Oich, there is an old railway path on the southern edge, taking you down to Laggan. From there, cross the A82 to take paths to Loch Lochy. Forestry tracks on the northern shore of the loch take you to Clunes, then it's minor roads again until more canal paths take you to Neptune's Staircase. From there, it's suburban roads taking you to the centre of Fort William.
