Cycle Steps
1. The route starts at Victoria Park in Hackney. After following the paths through the park which are traffic free, the route joins the Hertford Union Canal. From there the route travels eastwards towards the Olympic Park which is currently under construction. The route then continues adjacent to the River Lea Navigation before joining the road network at Lea Valley Road. The route then follows the road network to Epping Forest where a variety of off-road trails await. Cyclists can choose between returning the way they came or alternatively following the road network via Chingford and Walthamstow town centres. This route allows cyclists to return via some nice parks in Hackney such as Hackney Marsh and Well Street Common before returning to Victoria Park. On the whole the route is very flat with the one exception being on the approach to Epping Forest from Sewardstone Road. This section of the route is very steep and probably not for the faint hearted. However, the joys of Epping Forest make the tough ascent worthwhile.
