Cycle Steps
1. Starting from Strood Station, out of car parking area and follow path that goes under the station at the north west end of the car park (I suggest you walk this short bit as this is often busy with people walking through as trains arrive) At a road crossing at Station Rd, cross into a car park. At the exit, turn left, and then turn right into Grove Rd, continue uphill, until you arrive at Frinsbury Hill (A228) turn right, then left into Goddington Rd, Continue uphill until you arrive a Cliffe Rd, (B2000) bear right uphill, until you arrive at King Arthers Drive, turn left & continue on until the end, where you arrive at Broomhill Park. You will see a car park and a path, continue straight on uphill, for around 30 yards, then the path levels out. look to your left and see fantastic views of Rochester & Chatham. Continue out of the park on a path that passes two mobile phone masts. the path turns rights and goes downhill into Gorse Road. Turn right at the T Juction, this is Broom Hill Rd, At the Bottom you arrive at an Esso Petrol Station, on the A226, Gravesend Rd, turn left & then right into Abbey Rd, then right into Leybourne Rd, at the end you will see a grassed island, turn right into a access way to garages, then the path turns sharp left and down to you arrive at Watling Street, A2. Cross over and join the cycle path on the southern side of Watling Street, follow this for around a mile until you see a short path on your left just past Chapter School, this takes you into Copperhouse Rd. Follow the road unhil you arrive at Parkfields, continue straight on until you see a block of flats. bear right into Albatross Av, continue to follow this road until you see Tern Crescent, turn right, follow around until you arrive at Seagull Rd, this leads onto Rushdean Rd. When you see Ranscombe Close, on your left, turn right past into a small loop road when you will see a path that takes you over the M2 & under the CTRL into Ranscombe Farm follow this path (Which can be muddy after rain and after the field is ploughed) to a roadway. Turn left down hill and follow until you arrive at a car park next to the A228. Stay on the path which goes under the A228 from from west side to the east. Continue on until you see an cycle only route on your right that leads to the Medway Bridge (M2) Once over you arrive in Borstall Village, turn left into Borstall St & then Borstall Rd & then straight on into St. Margarets St. for around 2 miles until you arrive at Backfields, Turn left, and then right, you arrive at a path that cross Jacksons fields. carry on into Love Lane, turn left into Boley Hill past Rochester Castle on your left. When you arrive at the High St, turn right, follw along until you arrive at the traffic lights at the end. continue on past Rochester Station, on your left until Doust Way, turn left, enter Rochester Riverside site. Cycle along past the crane to the end & into Gas House Lane, at the Traffic lights turn right along Corporation Street, Over the Rochester Bridge & at the traffic lights turn right into Canal Rd, continue along and Strood Station is the second turning on the left You can Start/Finish this at either Rochester or Strood Station PLEASE NOTE ; The Rochester Riverside route may be subject to closeure in 2010 onwards while development takes place on the site. I suggest when arriving at the High St. from Boley Hill, you turn left and cross Rochester Bridge.
