Cycle Steps
1. A mixed route, using quiet lanes, bridlepaths and cycle route, with only two significant hills, that is suitable for children. It also passes 2 pubs. Starting in Old Knebworth, the route heads across the fields to Rabley Heath, past the Robin Hood & Little John Pub. It then proceeds towards Potters Heath and downhill to Welwyn Village. From here there is a very steep hill up to Ayot St Peter and the start of a lovely old railroad track cycle route down towards Wheathampstead. From here the route picks up Sheepcote Lane and uses quiet lanes up to Ayot St Lawrence via Shaws Corner, and the Brockett Arms (Pub), which serves good food and has a great garden at the rear. The route then drops down steeply to the Kimpton Road, and then up steeply to Codicote and the Hitchin Road, B656. This route requires approx 100m along this road (care to be taken with children) and then takes a right turn along an almost unused Manseslls Lane. At the end of this, join Bury Lane and return uphill to Old Knebworth, passing the Lytton Arms (Pub).
