Cycle Steps
1. This is a circular-ish road route, mainly on country roads, but with sections of A and B roads and some hills, that goes to a favourite pub of mine (The Holly Bush Inn, Makeney, where they serve very good pork pies, and Pedigree beer from the jug - as it should be). Actually, this permutation is a sort of figure of eight and it doesn't matter which way around you take it, though my preference is always to do the longer 'half' before the pub stop, for obvious reasons. The ride starts and finishes at Long Eaton Train Station, which makes it handy for those who come from a little further away. The route is deliberately windey to make it a worthwhile distance, and to avoid congested roads as far as possible. There are some decent views to be had from the tops of hills, weather permitting.
Landmarks/Sites to see?
There's a windmill (or two) if you keep your eyes peeled. There are 2 or 3 bike shops a mile or so from the start in Long Eaton, but really this ride is all about the Pub, the Pork Pies and of course the Beer.
