Cycle Steps
1. Starting in Strood, I cycled to Allington via the villages of Burham, Eccles and Aylesford. Here I met my mate and we made our way through Maidstone to Mote Park. We then headed for the A274 to Langley and then left onto the B2163 through Leeds village. A right turn onto the A20 took us on a detour through Harrietsham, Lenham and Charing. From Charing we joined the A252 and headed towards Canterbury. Just out of Charing the hills are pretty steep, probably the most challenging section of the ride. However, we were rewarded with a nice descent into Canters through Molash and Chilham, before joining the A28. Stopped for lunch at Pizza Hut in Canterbury, and had a photo at the Cathedral, with our bikes. We then took the crab and winkle way to Whitstable. Here Sealy decided he'd had enough so got a train home. (This is where the mapped route ends) I carried on, taking NCN Route 1 to Faversham through Graveney and Abbeyfields. The off-road sections from here to Sittingbourne are nice and the roads used are extremely quiet. Conyer was an extremely random place. If you're going for speed I'd say take the A2 instead, which is what I did when it started getting dark in Sittingbourne. I arrived back in Medway and cycled down Ash Tree Lane in the dark (not recommended!) to my Mother's house. A great day's cycling!
