1. This is a mixed route, on roads and bridleways, that definitely needs a hybrid or off road bike. I discovered it when I was stopped from following Brian Taylors' Chelmsford Circular Cycle Route, and used it as an extension to my usual Chelmsford Town Loop. From North Avenue I headed down Melbourne Avenue onto Chignal Road, then out of Town along Woodhall Hill. I had to change my plans when the road to Chignall Smealy was closed at Beadles Hall, so I took to the Bridleway past Beadles Hall. The path was rather bumpy and being Dark I couldn't see to pick the best path, I expect it is quite pretty in daylight. The path followed round a few fields then joined onto a track at Fanners Farm (Several Bridleways come of this one so lots of future options). From Fanners Farm track join up to Breeds Road and head right, back to Woodhall Hill road. Turn left onto Woodhall Hill road and head back into town on Chignal road. At this point I carried on my usual Chelmsford Town Loop which I posted previously.
Landmarks/Sites to see?
Pig and Whistle pub on Woodhall Road, good food last time I went.
