1. This is a road route, mainly on country roads and NCR64/63, but with smaller sections of A and B roads, that has some steep sharp climbs, hence the difficulty rating, but also hidden villages and amazing views of the landscape. The route is initially on A roads till you are out past Great Oakley. You turn off the A6003 onto country roads to go through Desborough and on to Market Harborough. The route then follows NCR64/63 to reach Oakham, going through Great Bowden, Thorpe Langton, Welham, Cranoe, Glooston, Goadby, Tugby, Whatborough Farm, Owston and Knossington on the way. From Oakham you head out on the B640 and Uppingham Road to the A6003, which you follow to the Manton turn off. It is then back onto country roads to Corby via Manton, Glaston, Seaton, Harringworth and Gretton. The route from Market Harborough thru East Leicestershire is amazing and the countryside is beautiful. The route also falls off and reclimbs the Jurassic Escarpment and its outliers, and there is a fantastic landscape all along the edge of this through Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire.
