Cycle Steps
1. This is a road route, mainly on B and country roads, that is fairly flat(ish) for the first 20 miles, but after which, the hills keep popping up when you don't want them to. As a result, I've given this a 7, as it never seems to get any easier for me! The route sets out north from Oakham on the B668 and goes up on country roads through Ashwell, Teigh, Edmondthorpe and Wymondham to Garthorpe. You then head south on the B676 through Saxby, and turn off left onto country roads for Stapleford. Go through Stapleford, across the A606, through Pickwell and skirt by Somerby. You then pass through Knossington and head towards Launde. Be careful dropping down the hill before Launde as there's a very tight right hander. Continue on by Loddington, through Belton-in-Rutland and across the A47. Go through Allexton, Hallaton and Medbourne before swinging round to the east to Drayton. From Drayton head back up north through Nevis Holt and turn right onto the B664. Turn right off the B664 into Stockerston Lane, heading towards Great Easton. Before Great Easton turn left and skirt round the western edge of Eyebrook Reservoir. At the end of the reservoir, turn right and then right again to come down the eastern side of the reservoir. Follow the road round through Stoke Dry, across the A6003 and into Lyddington. in Lyddington turn right and head down across the B672 and the river to Gretton. From Gretton head northeast to Harringworth and take a loop around Barrowden and Wakerley coming back to Harringworth. Now head north through Seaton, but be careful, there is a very tight left hander at the bottom of the hill after passing Seaton. You then head through Glaston, Preston, Ridlington and Brooke on the way back to Oakham. I think I managed to find every hill of note in the area. Enjoy
