Cycle Steps
1. This is a road route, on a mix of A, B, urban and country roads, that encounters many of the great hills around Bath, while avoiding most of the traffic. (Although it is all on tarmac, be aware that the quality does vary) The route shown starts in Bathampton and initially takes the A36 out through Claverton. It then turns right, off the A36, to go through Monkton Combe to Combe Down. Turn left onto the A3062 and then left onto country roads towards Southstoke. Cross the B3110, go into Southstoke, taking a right at the Pack Horse Lane junction and the next left. Follow the road out of Southstoke to the Tucking Mill Lane T junction. Take a right and continue on through Combe Hay. Take a left onto Combe Hay Lane and the immediate right off again. Follow this road, across the A367 and the B3115, and continue to the Priston Road crossroads. Turn right and go up through Englishcombe and on to the Whiteway Road T junction at the edge of Suthdown. Turn left and go past Whiteway and through Newton St Loe. At the next roundabout turn right onto the Bristol Road, A4. Follow the A4, as it becomes Newbridge Road, across the river and around to the first crossroads. Turn left into Old Newbridge Hill and follow this to the Kelston Road, A431 junction. Turn right onto the A431 and follow this to the Combe Park roundabout. Turn left into Combe Park Road and follow this as it merges with Weston Lane. Continue to the next roundabout in Weston and turn right into Lansdown Lane. Follow the road and take a left at the T junction to go through Lansdown. Take the next right after the Golf Club into Langbridge Lane. Go through Langbridge to the Tadwick Lane junction and take a left, heading for Tadwick. Go through Tadwick, following Tadwick Lane as it swings to the right. Merge with Hall Lane, take the sharp right turn and continue to the Gloucester Road, A46 junction. Turn left onto the A46 and take the next right onto Leigh Lane. Follow this road as it snakes it's way through St Catherine. Continue on this road until you pass Ramscombe Lane on your right. Take the next left into Oakford Lane. This will take you through the trees. You will emerge at the Ashwicke Road T junction, where you turn right. Follow this to the Fosse Way junction. Turn right onto the Fosse Way and take a fairly straight run into Bannerdown. Go through Bannerdown, coming out on London Road West. Take a left turn into Mill Lane and head across the river, the A4 and the railway line back into Bathampton. Get involved.
