| 1. This is a pleasant, mixed route, of on and off road sections, that has varied gradients and terrain. It goes from the centre of Barwell, across Burbage Common & Woods to Sapcote Garden Centre. Then a return trip following a similar route. (Ok! It was a Garden Centre shopping trip, last summer, but I found the ride enjoyable.)
Head out of Barwell on Chapel Lane towards the A47. At the A47 roundabout go straight across onto the Leicester Road, B4668. Follow this till the turn off left into Burbage Common Road.
After you pass the large parking area, on the right, on Burbage Common Road, turn right onto the track. Follow this across the Common, favouring the right hand path at the first fork. This should bring you underneath the railway bridge and on to join Smithy Lane.
Follow Smithy Lane to the B4669 T junction. Turn left onto the B4669, heading away from Hinkley. Follow the B4669 across the M69 roundabout and on till the Garden Centre on your left.
Take a break if it's a leisure ride and then head back, favouring a different path across the Common for a bit of variety. |
