Cycle Steps
1. Leave New Milton, heading for Bashley on the B3058. Go straight across the B3055 roundabout, and through Bashley, staying on the B3058. Continue to follow the B3058 over Bashley Common and on till the A35 T junction. At the junction, turn right onto the A35 and then take the first left, by the cottages. Follow the road through Holmsley Passage to the Station Road crossroads. At the crossroads, go straight across, then at the junction, turn left onto Bennetts Lane, go past the White Horse Pub on the left and through Bisterne Close. The road then takes a sharp left turn onto Beechwood Lane, at this point, take the road off to the right, Mill Lane. Follow this through the trees and on till the T junction. At the junction follow the sign for Lyndhurst and turn right onto Lyndhurst Road. This is a really pretty part of the route, most of which is down hill. Follow the road towards Lynhurst until you eventually reach the A35 T junction. At the junction, turn left onto the A35, still heading towards Lyndhurst. Take the first right, at a crossroads, onto Reinfield Ornamental Drive, heading towards Brockenhurst. Again a very pretty road with a steady climb. Stay on this road, taking care where the road turns sharp left onto Reinfield Road. Follow this road into Brockenhurst. In Brockenhurst, Reinfield roads swings round to the right and becomes Burley Road, which takes you away from Brockenhurst past South Weir. Here it opens up with a steady climb for about 2-3 miles and can be challenging, especially with a southerly wind. Stay on this road as it swings left and the after about 4 miles bends slowly right. As you come off the bend, take the left turn, with the small triangular island, towards Wootton. Go over the bridge heading towards Wootton and Bashley. Again here is a steady climb, but well wooded and protected from all but westerly winds. Continue till the T junction. At the junction, turn right onto Tiptoe Road, and at the T junction, just past the pub, turn left onto Bashley common Road, B3058, heading back towards New Milton. Follow the B3058 back through Bashley, over the B3055 crossroads, and back to the start point. (Please note that from point B on the map, back to the start is just over 2 miles. This and the time to cycle it need to be added to the distance and time above. These figures only cover from point A to point B)
