Cycle Steps
1. A Hertfordshire loop, making for a good quick training ride. Additional circuits can be done, each lap being about twenty miles through good countryside on relatively quiet roads, away from the din of the Big smoke. From Finsbury Park or thereabouts ride out via Muswell hill, Barnet(s) to Potters Bar. Through Potters Bar, past Brookmans Park (to left), turn next right out to Greek church. Then right down Newgate street, winding your way, past a number of catteries, till turning a sharp left up a hill and then right at the next junction, direction Brickendon. Through Brickendon, right past the pub, down towards Hertford, turning left on a slightly busier road that drags for a while till Essendon bears off to the left, then up it's hill. Continue taking in another pull up a hill till back round to that church on the corner. If feeling strong do another lap, or two. Return to London on the same roads. One lap as stated is about twenty miles while from London there's about fourteen miles ; making a one lap ride 45-50 miles, adding 20s if desired. Makes a good fast evening training ride for those preparing for bigger things ; burn those muscles and push!
Landmarks/Sites to see?
Bike shop near main junction in Potters Bar, selling decent road bikes ; a Pinarello in the window.
