Cycle Steps
1. Start at Cowdenbeath High Street and turn up Stenhouse Street, when you come to the junction on Old Perth Road right then immediate left onto Cuddyhouse Road past the recycling place. Follow the road right along to Kingseat, when you get there turn left then follow the road left towards the Queen Margaret hospital. Turn right PAST the main enterance to the hospital and you'll see an opening to the right just at the railway bridge for Alloa. Go along there to Dunfermline along the back of Halbeath Retail Park. Near the cemetary it will ask you to leave the path due to rodworks. It;s quiet but a few parked cars along the way. Come to the junction at the police Station in Dunfermline then RIGHT at the back of Halfords and along pilmur Street. Keep going straight past Carnegie Leisure Centre and follow the sign for Milesmark. Come into Headwel near Broomhead Flats. There is a slight cycle path but what I found is your just as well following the road to the left past the lights then up through Baldridgeburn. You'll come to a junction and on the left there's roadworks that look like the road's closed. Pass these and on the next left go along and turn right. Again lots of fencing looking like the road's closed but you can get past walking or cycling. You;ll come to the car park and see the cycle path for ALLOA. It is signposted but up until back on tha path with all the roadworks is a bit confusing so just ask someone! we did! Then once on the path you can't really go wrong. All flat, off road and tarmac. I'm sure if you turn off into the likes of Oakly you will come to a shop but no obvious ones on the path. There are openings for Devilla Forrest on the way but due to the dark nights we just carried onto Alloa. At the end of the ath you come into Clacmannan and just really cycle through the village into Alloa, slight uphill at first and not a busy road but then level. We came back the same way into Dun fermline town via the track but at some points the temperatire dropped from 6.5 to 1 degree so be prepared!! Instead of via Queen Margaret hospital then along Cuddyhouse Road we came home along Halbeath road, stopping off at Asda for something to eat and a drink then home via Halbeath and Crossgates. Not too hilly but cold at night!!
