Cycle Steps
1. Start from the Gamekeeper Pub on the main crossroads in the village of Scotter. Follow the flat route west to Susworth where you turn a sharp right at the Jenny Wren Pub onto the infamous Trent bank. Please be aware a headwind is notorious on the Trent Bank. Follow the bank road north to Burringham, through Burringham village on through to Gunness. Be careful on the junction of Keadby Bridge where you turn right, it can get busy. Past Gunness Wharf on the left and turn left off into Gunness village. Through Gunness and follow the road to Flixborough. Once past Flixborough Ind Estate you'll climb a nice steady s-bend hill up into Flixborough Village. Turn immediate left, then left again and follow the road into Burton-Upon-Stather (road has woodland on the left) Through Burton and follow the road to Thealby. This has great smooth tarmac and you can get a good pace going. Now to Thealby Hill. Great sharp aggressive climb so pace yourself properly. Once at the top turn left at the t-junction and follow the A1077 to South Ferriby. Be careful as this road can get extremely busy with traffic. If its a nice clear day keep an eye out for the Humber Bridge. Cycle through South Ferriby and up Ferriby Hill. Aggressive and sharp. Pace and stamina needed. Once at the top follow the road until the first left turn onto Gravel Pit Road and ride down the hill to the t-junction. Turn right onto Far Ings Road. Time to access the Humber Bridge. Beware you can access the bridge from either side but one side is usually locked, there is always one side open! Ride north over the bridge to the car park. Turn right at the t-junction and follow road to Hessle. Road leads all the way into Hessle centre. Turn left at the mini-roundabout and 50 yards on the left find James Patrick Deli!! An absolute must break stop. Great food and coffee!! Once rested follow the route back to the Humber Bridge and ride south across it. When you leave the access ramp off the bridge turn right back onto Far Ings Lane and up to the t-junction. Turn right and follow the road into Barton. You'll see a pub in front and you want to be riding on the right side of it, the road has cobbled sections so you can't miss it. Up to the mini-roadabout, turn right and follow signs to South Ferriby. Back on the main road road and now down Ferriby Hill, be careful of your speed!! This time turn off left towards Horkstow. Once on the outskirts of Horkstow turn sharp left up Horkstow Hill. Steep!!! Very Steep!!! Once at the top turn right and follow the great view all the way to the top of Elsham Hill. Great fast ride down the bottom but keep an eye on your speed!! Follow the road to Wrawby where you'll turn right at the t-junction to Brigg. Follow the main road through Brigg to Scawby Brook. Turn right towards Scawby. Follow road to Messingham and then back to Scotter and the Gamekeeper Pub.
