Cycle Steps
Served well by the primary route to London to Salisbury before the motorways, the A30, this route is very simple once you get out of London.

At Basingstoke you feel like you've smashed it but there's hard times to come with the gentle but punishing downs of Wiltshire asking you to dig deep.

I took a section of the A303 for longer than you might want too. I was enjoying the speed and flatness.. plus the traffic noise and carbon monoxide made me go faster for sure.
Landmarks/Pubs for lunch/Sites to see?
I'd recommend a garden centre somewhere on the A30 just out of Basingstoke if I could remember the name. Here I sat in a garden folly on display and discovered the Peanut Brittle snack bar. Asked the friendly staff for a water fill up also. Quite a few parks and golf clubs along the way too.
