Hi all!
Im Gary, 22 years young, live in Sunderland. Currently riding a Ragleigh Freeride.
Used to do a lot of mountain biking but mainly do road and track now.
Doing the GNBR and in October doing C2C in 1 day hopefully!
I switched to road biking simply because of time. When I was at college I used to be able to go various places mountain biking, but in the big wide world of work, just didn't. I used to work in Durham and cycled to work every day on a heavy mountain bike [bloody hard work], and thats when I switched to road!!
I don't really see GNBR as a challenge personally, the C2C however is different. Im averaging 12mph at the moment!
Hi, I'm another newbie too! Been cycling for a couple of months now (roadie) and am finding the hilly countryside of County Durham an enjoyable challenge.
Gary, you say your averaging around 12 mph now. Is that on your road bike or a mtb? I'm generally knocking out around 16 - 18mph, when I'm not falling off going round corners in the wet!
Haven't joined a club yet but am thinking about it although I don't think I am covering enough distance for it to be worthwhile yet as I am only doing 20 miles at a time at the moment.
