I bought a Trek hybrid about 5 months ago, changed the slick tyres for ones with a little tread and are enjoying mainly off road (cycle paths & towpaths) rides of 5 to 15 miles. Completed the 10 mile Douglas MacMillan charity ride in Stoke a few months ago, a 12 mile family fun ride with a picnic halfway and a 14 mile round Worcester ride last week. Also been out doing about 20 mile a week leasure ride. Loved every minute! As yet I have not felt tired or aches at the end of a ride and just want to do more. Bought a good pair of padded shorts which are excellent. I golf at least once a week which is about a 4.5 mile walk each time so I am probably reasonably fit. I could really do with a cycling buddy interested in doing similar rides both for pleasure and charities. I'm seriously considering doing the London to Brighton in 2011 and possibly other medium distance charity rides. Happy cycling |
