My knees use to really hurt (years ago) - well the muscles / tendons above the knee cap Apparently it was because I was always trying to turn too big a gear (Bike Shop Expert). He has encouraged me to use only the small cog at the front unless I'm doing over 22mph. This has made a massive difference to average speed and stamina. Takes some getting use to... old habits etc. In his words you should be pedalling like a cartoon character. I can now do 50 miles with no probs or reaction in my knees. Hope this helps. |
