As this is my first time solo bike touring I would like to stay on a campsite rather than wild camp - but I would like a remote tents-only campsite and not one which caravans drive up to. I live in Berkshire so would like suggestions within a 2 hour train journey (Cornwall's too far off). Any suggestions and advice appreciated! |

New forest should present plenty of camp sites if you dont mind the flat terrian. Isle of wight should have plenty of campsites too but hills galore, foot ferries are relatively cheap from portsmouth to Ryde or Lyndhurst to Yarmouth. If you fancy off road a train to Eastbourne and cycle back to berkshire via the southdowns way to winchester. good luck. Buster G |

Looked at South Downs Way but I think I would prefer a mix of on and off road - I guess New Forest might be a good idea then? I am also thinking of the Kennet and Avon canal path from Reading to Bristol - if the weather holds up this weekend. |
