Just completed the Coast to Coast Challenge over three days.

Day 1 - Whitehaven to Penrith
Day 2 - Penrith to Rookhope
Day 3 - Rookhope to Roker.

Awesome experience. I would recommend it to everyone that hasnt done it yet. Just be careful as one of my small group of three had a serious accident. He is ok now but did spend 4 nights in hospital.

Beautiful scenery and awesome downhill sections in particular the one after Whinlatter Pass make this an incredible experience.

Loved it.

Just finished it too, on Tuesday.

Day 1 Sunday - Whitehaven to Greystoke
Day 2 Monday - Greystoke to Allenheads
Day 3 Tuesday - Allenheads to Tynemouth.

I agree it was awesome, fantastic, amazing the good times far outweighed the bad.

We were a group of 4 (Including Outrunner on here) and all completed it.

Sorry to hear about your friend, hope all is well.

One mile out of Penrith he came off his bike and took all the skin off his knee down to the bone.

We will make sure he is fighting fit and organise it again next year to allow him to complete it.

You will do immensely well to complete it on two days I must say. Day 1 was tough but not difficult, day two was a killer and day three was fine as there was only really one big climb out of rookhope.

We were a group of three and did it without any support. Carried what we needed on our backs.

No punctures or problems with the bikes either. lol. I'd highly recommend this "ghetto tubless" system.

Hi Andy.
I did the same route as you did, but afew weeks ago.
Im assuming you stayed at the Rookhope inn? Did you go to Stanhope or climb the rocky road out of rookhope, the bloke in the bar told us that the rocky road would be too much to ride up, but we took the challenge head on and make it.

I have to admit i found day one the hardest, but I think that as I hadnt eaten breakfast and we make a slight 15 mile detour, LOL.

Hope ur mate is okay, we will be doing it again next year and will also be trying it over 2 days.

Andy, am I right in assuming your from the north east? if so checkout www.durhambigride.co.uk thats my next challenge. get yourself on it if you can :-)
