I am fairly new to road cycling and I am up to 30 miles non stop probably catagory 5-6 rides if that helps.I'm probably looking for 50 mile rides at the most as my time is restricted to around 5 hrs a day for cycling. Thanks all and much appreciated. Mark |

Suggest the following for one day: Take the Hebden Bridge road out (A6033. At Pecket Well turn left through Chiserley/Old Town passing the Hare and Hounds (Taylors pub) to your right. Heights Road takes you at altitude along a flatish ridge route to Midgely and then down to Luddendenfoot. Turn left onto A646 to Halifax and then once through there take Pellon Lane up through Mount Tabor and past the wind farm to your right and Halifax Sailing Club to your left (highest altitude sailing club). On the way you can see where you have come from by looking over and seeing the Stoodley Pike monument above Hebden Bridge in the distance. The road is then a bit rough for 1/4mile but OK but ride-able. This road then swoops down to Oxenhope where yo turn right to Howarth again. There are tons of routes, but whilst you in the area, perhaps try the B6138 from Mytholmroyd through Cragg Vale to the A58 - it is the longest continuous up hill ride in England and is signposted as such. I think it is 5 1/4 miles. May sound daunting, but a good one to tick off the list. |
