Hi all,

I am just getting started again on a bike after 35 years out of the saddle, so I need some easy flattish routes. Want to build up from 40 minutes upwards.
I live in Shotley Bridge, not very fit, yet, but have the will power!
Anybody goy any ideas for my start round here?

as for just starting off why dont you do the derewent walk its canny flat .takes you to swallwell have a break every half hour drink etc bit food . in no time you will get fit . then do the waskeley track in no time you will be going to parkhead . but again just take your time and it will all come in time .

I also am oldie in Shotley and I ride 1 - 2 hours every day.
Sb to Parkhead and return is about 2 hours and easy once you get up to Consett.

For a short ride, SB to the ponds at Greenside and return about 1.5 hours.
If you go all the way into Stanley on the C2C make that 2 hours.

For a full marathon (26 miles) down the Derwent Walk to Swalwell/Metro Centre and back.

Cheers

Jim

Getting back on the bike after a long break is a great way to ease into fitness! For some beginner-friendly routes around Shotley Bridge, you might want to explore the Derwent Walk Country Parkā€”it's relatively flat and scenic, perfect for building endurance without too many challenging hills. You can also consider riding along the River Derwent path, which offers gentle terrain and nice views. Start with short rides and gradually increase your professional assignment writing websites at linkedin time as you feel more comfortable. Enjoy the journey back into cycling!
