I don't know who makes these decisions but this road is really not suitable for the number of inexperienced cyclists who appear to use it. It is a winding, two lane road with high kerbs and is used by many motorists. I've been regularly astonished by families with five year olds teetering along and on Sunday, by a group of six cycling three abreast on a blind bend, but today beat the lot. A cycle route which avoids a dangerous junction joins the road and today a cyclist shot out onto the road without pausing or, apparently, looking. Just as I was thinking another few metres and I would have hit him, another cyclist shot out in front of my car causing me to swerve and perform an emergency stop to avoid her. Had there been oncoming traffic I would have hit it. It seems to me that there should be some warning before this junction to tell cyclists they are about to join a busy road and I rang the local council when I got home. After twenty five minutes of being referred to different departments I gave up. In my opinion someone is going to be severely injured on this road but who can I tell? |

Maybe copy and paste that letter and send it on to you local MP tomorrow morning? I bet they’d take note (and hopefully make a difference). Just hope they realise before its too late!! |

Ours helped us get a lane re-opened where quarry chalk was being dumped in order to close a lane for motorists and motorbikes, she even called in Park rangers as it bordered the park. I google and found this document from CTC http://www.ctc.org.uk/resources/Benchmarking/CORNWALL_DELIVERY_OF_CYCLING_POLICY.pdf it gives this council contact (it is 2004). Contact Rebecca Jackson for further information Email address: rjackson@cornwall.gov.uk Something more uptodate: http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/default.aspx?page=17685 Online contact form Telephone 0300 1234 202 envmanagement@cornwall.gov Organisations like local bike clubs or the CTC would certainly be interested too. Good luck |
