100 miles in two days !!

Joined: 16 Sep 2009 Posts: 19 Bike: My Profile | I have just got back from yet another 4 hours on the road yesterday I did 47 miles in just over 4 hours and today I have managed 43 miles in 4 hours. yesterday: was from york to knaresbrough, on to minskip - boroughbridge - great ouseburn aldwalk ( toll bridge ) linton on ouse, overton - then back to york. total 47 miles, it was a very nice ride great weather, with a slight cool breeze. today: from york to overton - beningbrough hall. newton on ouse, linton on ouse - Aldwalk - youlton - alne - easingwould - then on to strensall. back to york via city centre. weather not as good as yesterday with a stong breeze and over cast. these two rides I would class as moderate. I suppose you could make a day of it and take your time. I how ever did not stop unless it was for a change over for drinks or pop in to shop for drinks. this all done on mountain bike with road tyres. |

Joined: 15 Oct 2009 Posts: 8 Bike: | HI i have also done the 100 miles, the bhf southdowns way ride which was in one day, was great day apart from having wrong tyres on bike and slipping quite a bit, the distance was not to bad, it was the terrain that made it hard, bike took a hammering on it, lost the rear mech at the end and could only free ride last 5 miles down the hills and had to run up them, looking now to do next big ride on road bike and going for more disatnace as cant get the terrain any worse would need a ropto pull myself up some of them hills, any one else done this?? |

Joined: 27 Jun 2008 Posts: 9 Bike: My Profile | A mixed group of us did a tour round southern Scotland from Edinburgh at the beginning of September, Edinburgh, Stirling, Killin, Perth, Glenrothes, Edinburgh, with days 3 and 4 being 60 milers, including some some of Scotlands heaviest rain for years, and all on consecutive days. We were all on hybrids, and averaged abour 10 miles an hour, much the same as you. Some us struggled at times, and some not, but we all did it. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and plan to do something similer again, and would recommend it - just remember to wear the padded shorts. Can I have a headline of 120 miles in 2 days please, or 250 miles in 5 days. |
