Advice on Route from Salamanca to French Border

Joined: 19 Oct 2011 Posts: 10 Bike: My Profile | Hi, I'm doing a charity ride from Portugal to East Yorkshire and I have a decent route through France, however, Salamanca, Spain to the French border is confusing me. Friends have led me to believe that there is a non-motorway road that runs alongside the motorway almost all the way to the French border, but my maps don't show this. Does anyone have any experience of this route that they can share with me? Cheers, Andy |

Joined: 09 Dec 2011 Posts: 84 Bike: My Profile | rode a route to barcelona a few years ago. part of it was on a 'service road' which ran alongside/close to the large motorway in that area, west of barca. I'd assume, though others with more experience may know better, that other motorways are the same. Google maps/earth your route and you should be able to see if there's a parallel road. When're you doing your ride? It can get very very hot in that region during july/august. I met a family from madrid, whilst camping near Lourdes, who cleared out every summer because of the heat! best of luck! |

I'd 192.168.100.1 192.168.1.1 assume, though others with more experience may know better, that other motorways are the same. Google maps/earth your route and you should be able to see if there's a parallel road. When're you doing your ride? It can get very very hot in that region during july/august.
