There is a cycle route from Castleford to Leeds which follows Aire Calder Navigation and meets up with the Leeds Liverpool Canal http://www.waterscape.com/things-to-do/cycling/routes/406/leeds-to-castleford The Leeds Liverpool Canal travels via the Aire valley and is approximately one mile from Headingley Stadium at Kirkstall (if you watch Super League, you will have heard Eddie Hemmings mention the Kirkstall Lane End!) cycle up through Burley and back vis Kirkstall lane to the Canal then on to Shipley where you can pick up a route to Odsal. From there it is hilly so makes sense to use the canal route initially. Sustrans is the best website for cycle routes in the country - http://www.sustrans.org.uk/what-we-do/national-cycle-network Good Luck! If you need any help email pmartin@aquasentry.co.uk. I live in Leeds and a keen cyclist as well as rugby mad! |
