Joined: 20 Oct 2011 Posts: 4 Bike: | Have only just started taking cycling more seriously and b4 my last 'Tour' i decided to give the bike a full 'service' You wont believe the 'crud' that gets in-between your gears and chain!!! I was shocked! So just a quick heads-up for the people out there who are a little bit like i used to be! EG- Keep throwing oil on it!!! lol |

Joined: 16 Jan 2009 Posts: 498 Bike: My Profile | you're not wrong! little and often is the key. A set of stiff brushes, and some degreaser are the answer. try to use a chain specific lube, rather than the trusty old 3-in-1 oil tin, though! |

Joined: 20 Oct 2011 Posts: 4 Bike: | I use WD40 to clean mine; I know it sounds mad but it works a treat and if i miss a bit it doesn't matter because it does it no harm! Another good tip is to use cotton buds inbetween your gears for the little bits of gunk you can't get to. Oh and babywipes are fantasic for a quick wipe if you have just been out in the rain. |
