We have read up on the route and ordered some literature, but i wondered if there was anyone on here who may have done it previously with any useful information to pass on, such as places to stay etc. If anyone has any further info that they feel may be useful, any info will be greatly appreciated! Many thanks Jim |

I planned to eat on route but did not take much food with me, this was a bad plan on day 1 as I did not get to eat until about 15:00 by which time I suspect my blood sugar level was well down. You pass lost of places to eat near the start then nothing for ages. After that issue I stock the bike with emergency supplies and of course did not need them. There is a long up hill 5 miles with a welcome cafe at the top. Thought long and hard on what tyres to use and in the end went for a cross between a mountain bike tyre and a road tyre. Seemed to work for 95% of the route but was a little slippy on some mud. I general the route is well signed and easy to find with just the sustran map. I made the mistake of dividing the total distance by the number of days I planned to do it in. Thats fine apparts from on average the first half is uphill and the second half is down hill. So ended up in Sunderland much earlier than planned. Really enjoyed it and had great weather. Good luck with your C2C |
