Cycle Routes away from traffic for Children

Joined: 03 Sep 2010 Posts: 4 Bike: My Profile | I am just getting back into cycling (having forgotten how much I enjoy it), and want to get my daughters (age 4 & 7) into it too. They have 2nd hand bikes, and I have bought them new bikes for Christmas (from Father Christmas!) and want to get them riding so they can get the stabilisers off, but want them to be completely away from traffic but riding on reasonable surfaces. Thinking of cycle routes and parks with good cycle paths, but struggling to find where. Can you help? Live in South Essex close to Brentwood / Grays / Basildon. Many thanks. |

Joined: 08 Nov 2010 Posts: 1 Bike: | i know it is a bit far from where you live, but if you are ever in northamptonshire, you can ride from stanwick lakes (irthlingborough) to thrapston (very good market town). this route is ideal as there are no roads you need to go on, although it is a bit bumpy in some places. suspension bikes are a must on this route to be honest. |
