I thought I'd start this nice and early with just over 2 months until Christmas. What are you asking Santa for this Christmas?

I'll be asking for a new front derailleur as mine seems to have stopped shifting smoothly (stripped, greased and repeated over and over again with no joy). I may as well upgrade while I'm at it to some XTR's.

And I really need some decent winter clothing incl. a water/wind proof jacket, and some cycling trousers. A new jersey'd be nice too, but I might be pushing it now...although this is a 'Wish List'!

I've already asked santa for a trip computer with GPS - He'd better start saving! We go on quite a few cycling breaks so it'd be good to not get lost for a change. My standard trip computer broke a couple of months back so its an ideal time to upgrade :)

MentalPedalPusher,

I doubt your wife would be any happier for stating 'all you want is her' after declaring you'd take Kylie for a ride!!

Have you looked at cycling clubs to see if any do a Sunday morning ride? Have a look at: Bike 2 Basics

ooh christmas list good idea, get thinking early. I like it

How are bike GPSs, do they work as well as the SatNav I would have in my car or are they more similar to the old basic ones used for hiking.

Hi Mark,

Some of the more expensive GPS's are similar to a cars Sat Nav but are generally pretty expensive. Whereas the cheaper ones are still like the hiking GPS's. I guess you get what you pay for. Seeing as the cycling ones are waterproof and much more compact than the car ones - they can charge a premium...

Waterproof trousers and shoes! Anyone recommend some? Was thinking about overshoes as a cheaper alternative - Endura ones at around £20 if Santa's willing.

I've just been in cloud cuckoo land for the past 20 mins, designing my own customised road bike on the Trek Bikes website. Not sure how long it's been around but they call it 'Project One'. You choose what series bike you want, then the graphics and colours, gears, wheelsets etc etc...

The one I made up was over £5000 which sound a lot (OK yeah it is a lot!) but you do get a unique bike - they even add a personalised text just below the seatpost. It looked great... but probably should! Still it's going on my xmas list (albeit a late addition).
