He has made his fortune now but what about all the other riders who should have won the fame and fortune that Lance Armstrong stole from them , all their race placings are below what they should be , less sponsorship money etc etc . Let us all hope that this does not disuade youngsters from taking up this sport ! Rant over !! |

In 2006 or 7 during the tour de France ,the sweepers ( the people who follow each stage of the race to clean up the litter / remove all the direction panels etc etc) found a black plastic bin liner full of needles phials and packaging in a litter bin in a layby which was widely reported on French t v , and this was thought to be from Armstrongs team and that this would maybe stop the practice but nothing could be proved (so they say). Maybe the big cycling teams have more clout than the race authorities !! just like Ferrari seemed to have in Formula one a few years ago . I suppose ,as in most things , money is king ! |

I guess there are similar things going on in all sorts of sports, business where a lot of money and pressure is involved. Winning can be everything. What ever it takes. This is what put me off when I was young, the lengths people will go to, how they treat people, what they will do to win, and to win for what ? Money, ego, fame. I just loved sport and backed off when it got serious. Football, Gymnastics and Athletics. I just cycle now for shear pleasure and fitness. In itself a drug and almost an addiction? Hope the snow goes soon and get back out there. Spin classes are fine but you can not beat the open rode. |

I thing we may never get to the bottom of who, and how many doped even with the UCI trying to be pro-active. Glad I ride for the fun and not to race. |
