I figured what better place to go and get some great, healthy advice than a cycle forum. So here I am. A colleague convinced me to sign up for the London to Brighton Bike Ride in June. I have 2 months to train (I had 3, but got horrendously ill and was unable to do any proper exercising at all.. over that now, and I really feel I should start training in earnest). I'm not what you would call fit, but I'm not unhealthy! It's just that I haven't ridden a bike over a distance for about 8 years. I used to be a regular runner but that, too, ended a number of years ago.. Now it's whenever I find the time. Which isn't often. With this knowledge in mind... Help! I walk wherever I can, but where I live and where I go is mostly a level route so I don't use my upper leg muscles to a high extent. I have been cycling small routes (about 8km at a time) every so often, but this does not compare to the long trek ahead of me.. Any recommendations on getting ready? :) Please. Oh, and my bike is an off-road hybrid.. any suggestions on getting -it- ready?? |
