I'm planning to mountain bike the 3 peaks early next year starting at BN finishing Snowdon, trying to stay off road as much as possible. So far it looks like bringing together elements of the West Highland way, hadrians cycleway, pennine way etc etc but has anyone tried this before?? Any tips would be much appreciated!!

I know this is no help but awesome idea! Will add it to my list of things to do before I'm old and complaining about my knees.

Hi Monkeymagic,

I was just wondering if you completed the challange? I'm planning on doing something similar and wondered what route you took between the 3 peaks?

Any info or advise would be much appreciated

Cheers

Aled

I'm looking to do a similar trick in 2012 (no not for the olympics but because I turn 50 that year;o)) but probably not by the off road cycle route. It does look to be a genuine challenge mate and probably a good way beyond my own abilities.
Have you heard of anybody posting a road route for this challenge?

I had a two week window to do this in Feb/March (i think it was), and it was horrendous weather with the summit of all three peaks covered in snow. Its been postponed until spring 2011 when I hope to do this for Help for Heroes. Fingers crossed. Cheers for all your replies! Dan

Hi

Are you still planning on doing this? I'm thinking of doing this over the extended easter/wedding bank holiday break. So would have a total of 11 days for the off road route. Did you put together a route that you wouldnt mind sharing? What dates are you doing it maybe we'll see you on the way.

good luck

Planning on doing this at the end of April, finding the stretch between Glasgow and Gretna hard to make off road as there apears to be no real flowing bridleway between the two locations, think I'll be on the road.

Think this is gonna be damn hard, esp seen as I only have 10 days, thats 45-50 miles off road a day.

Will keep you informed.

Would any of these old routes be of interest? I haven't tried any myself, so don't know if they are passable. http://www.heritagepaths.co.uk/mapsearchResults.php?area=6
