Underwear or not?

Hi

I'm about to start cycling and have bought some undershorts to go beneath my bib shorts etc. I have read somewhere that no underwear should be worn but I'm inclined to wear it. What is the general consensus please?

Thanks

Paul

Cycling shorts are made to be worn with nothing underneath but it depends on the individual.
I sometimes wear compression shorts under my cycling shorts, which help with muscle fatigue,
on a longer ride, but feel more comfortable wearing nothing.

im sure you will probably try it anyways as im sure once you do you will very soon realise it doesnt really work....

leave it to the imagination but warm sunny day with 4 layers (4th been the actual saddle) around your nether regions plus strenous excercise.... yuck

Thanks for your replies. I have just bought two pairs of padded underwear. I shall either send them back or they can go on e-bay.

When it comes to cycling, many cyclists recommend not wearing underwear beneath your bib shorts to avoid chafing and discomfort. Cycling shorts are designed with built-in padding and seams positioned to reduce friction. However, comfort is key, so if you prefer wearing underwear, make sure it’s seamless and moisture-wicking.
