remember, bicycles 'carry weight' significantly better than a marathon runner.

I'm speakign from experience!

Go steady, and you'll make it. Make sure your bike is on good order - free running gears - good tyres - high tyre pressures for the road etc.

Hi Firefox,

I did it last year (and back for more punishment this year) and im tipping 16 stone.

my experience? the first half approximately is very stop start so fairly easy recovery as you go just dont try to get it all done fast because it is a real achievement if you can conquer ditchling beacon (right at the end, I didnt manage it last year)

Your mountain bike gears are better suited for that anyway. you will be passing a lot of the people on road bikes! (probably including me!)

Thanks alot for all the advice guys just done 22 miles today with a 4 mile hill which I only stopped at the top, ot steep towards the end, that was with my nobblys on got home and put my road tyres on will see how much easier it is now.. :)
